Daddy on Duty

Daddy cared for me by himself while my mom was in the hospital for a few nights. I slept REALLY well for him at night, but we were still exhausted!
Grandpa and I waiting patiently for my mom to be back in tip-top shape after her surgeries. Grandpa learned how to swaddle me and fed me for the first time. I missed him while he was on vacation with Grandma for a week in Montana and Wyoming.
My mom was having such a hard time not holding me while she was in the hospital. She was thankful that Dad sent her updates during the night to let her know that I was being a good girl for him. My mom said we will not be going back to the hospital for a long time (except to meet my new cousin at the end of September)!

A Day at the Lake

We celebrated our friend Josh's 29th birthday at his family's lake home.
Of course I had to dress for the occasion (even though I stayed inside).
Two bikini babes!
My daddy says this is the first and last bikini I will ever wear.

Shannon, Emilie, Mom, me, Wendy, Michelle
and Jackson enjoying Josh's 29th birthday get-together. Jonathan Strovers and I on one of our daily, morning
walks around Memorial Park and Elmwood.
It is a nice way to start off our morning;
my mom really enjoys chatting with Jonathan's mom.

O! What a Zoo!

Both my grandmas, Addison and my mom enjoyed
sharing my first trip to the zoo with me.
We visited the rain forest, butterflies, gorillas, bears, lions, and orangutans.
There was an aardvark born the day before Kate in the nursery that was rejected by his mother...how sad!

Addison was a wonderful tour guide, she was patient to see her crocodile at Kingdom of the Nights. My grandmas and Addison enjoyed lunch at California Taco after the field trip.
Grandma Shearer and I visiting the Lied Jungle.
It was so special to share this with her!
Dad and Grandma Shearer at Blue Sushi Sake Grill. My grandma tried sushi and edamame for the first time, she was pleasantly surprised that she liked them. I think I am part edamame since my mom ate it nearly everyday during pregnancy.

Pictures by Colleen

We went to Colleen Dustin's studio (www.dustinphoto.com) 9 days after Kate was born to have her pictures taken. We are really pleased with the pictures, Kate may have a future in modeling :) It was fun to catch up with Colleen, a friend of Denise's from elementary school.

Please use the following to view Kate's pictures:

Getting Settled

Kate at her first book club.
Our first walk: Wrigley was so happy to get out!
A night out with the Girls/Moms...
I guess Mike joined the party later, so it wasn't exactly a girls' night.
Our brother-in-law had this sign in our yard when we came home from the hospital.
Uncle Douggie...A.K.A. The Godfather.
We were so thrilled he made a special trip home to meet our precious Kate.
